From Dreams to Reality: Sharing the Fairway with Golf Greats Larry Mize and Bernhard Langer

Unforgettable Round with Golf Legends Larry Mize and Bernhard Langer at ProAm Tournament

The PGA Tour is back in action, and it's an exciting and enjoyable time for golf enthusiasts. It brings back a flood of wonderful memories, especially the opportunity I had to play alongside a true legend.

A few years back, I was incredibly fortunate to participate in a round of golf with the renowned Larry Mize, hailing from Georgia, USA, and a Masters winner. Accompanying him was the two-time Masters Champion, Bernhard Langer, from Germany. Our paths crossed at the ProAm Tournament held at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary, North Carolina.

Playing alongside Larry and his skilled caddie, Vim Buzz, was an absolute delight. Larry showcased his exceptional talent, striking the ball with the finesse and precision reminiscent of his prime. As we completed a satisfying round of 18 holes, there was never a shortage of joyous moments and invaluable advice from this true legend, a champion both on and off the course.

As a lighthearted side note, I couldn't contain my excitement and promptly contacted my golf coach for some additional evening lessons to ensure I was adequately prepared for this extraordinary opportunity. It was an incredible experience. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Larry and Bernhard for gracing Cary, NC with their presence at the ProAm event hosted by SAS.

Larry Mize:

Lawrence Hogan Mize is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour and currently plays on the Champions Tour. He is well known for one career-defining shot – a chip from off the green at the 11th hole at Augusta to win the playoff for the 1987 Masters Tournament, which is his only major title to date. He is also the only winner of that tournament to come from Augusta.

Bernhard Langer:

Bernhard Langer is a German professional golfer. He is a two-time Masters champion and was one of the world's leading golfers throughout the 1980s and 1990s. In 1986, he became the sport's first number one ranked player following the creation of the Sony Ranking (now the Official World Golf Ranking).

Langer is one of five golfers who have won professional golf events on all six continents where golf is played. He has victories on all the premiere tours, with 42 wins on the European Tour (2nd most all-time), three on the PGA Tour, and numerous international victories; including wins on the Japan Golf Tour, Asian Tour, Australasian Tour, and the Tour de las Américas.

SAS Institute:

The main sponsor of the annual tournament is the SAS institute. SAS Institute (or SAS, pronounced "sass") is an American multinational developer of analytics software based in Cary, North Carolina. SAS develops and markets a suite of analytics software (also called SAS), which helps access, manage, analyze and report on data to aid in decision-making. The company is the world's largest privately held software business and its software is used by most of the Fortune 500.
